LAZZEN's Photovoltaic Power Distribution Solutions Drive Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement in the World's Largest Single Photovoltaic Power Station in United Arab Emirates

Release time: 2024-02-22 Publisher: By Nader

United Arab Emirates, located in the Middle East, abounds in oil and natural gas resources and ranks No.7 in explored reserve of both oil and natural gas in the world. However, such an oil-rich country has built the world's largest single photovoltaic power station — Abu Dhabi Al Dhafra PV2 Photovoltaic Power Station.

Abu Dhabi Al Dhafra PV2 Photovoltaic Power Station project is a major project undertaken by Chinese central enterprises in the Middle East under China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative. This project incorporates string scheme and is equipped with LAZZEN's customized intelligent power distribution series products and solutions. This project has a grid-connected capacity of 2,100MW, breaking world record, making it become a milestone in the history of photovoltaic industry.

Al Dhafra PV2 Photovoltaic Power Station project is located in Al Dhafra, about 35km south of Abu Dhabi City, United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to official estimate made by TAQA, with operation of this project following completion, its power generation could meet the power demand of about 160,000 UAE households, and it could reduce carbon emission by more than 3.60 million tons every year, equivalent to emission from 720,000 vehicles on the road.

The Middle East has the most widely distributed tropical desert climate, high reflectivity and abundant sunlight resources, but it is subject to high environment temperature (maximum daily temperature 52 degrees centigrade), strong sand wind (maximum wind speed 160KM/H accompanied by sand dust) and high corrosion. Harsh natural environmental conditions impose extremely strict constraints on the reliability of photovoltaic intelligent power distribution system, making it easy to cause abnormal current and overheating resulting in short circuit within batteries, presenting high requirements for high voltage and high breaking in photovoltaic field.

In response to special application scenarios in the Middle East, LAZZEN offers customized product series solutions, actively addressing heating and temperature rise in critical current-carrying parts through technological innovations and intelligent power distribution systems, mitigating capacity reduction bottleneck incurred by high-temperature environment, ensuring long-term full-load operation of products under 70-degree-centigrade closed condition and satisfaction of design requirements for natural heat dissipation in such scenarios as inverters and box-type substation's low-voltage cabinets.

Furthermore, at present, inverters and box-type substation's low-voltage cabinets generally reach protection level IP65; however, with extended operation duration, sealing element aging leads to weakened protection, low-voltage devices within cabinets will also be affected by sand dust somewhat, and weak signal control accessories are vulnerable to poor contact.

LAZZEN proceeds from holistic analysis of non-conductive contamination failure of low-voltage devices to reinforce the leakproof structure of weak signal control contacts, helping develop their full making capacity in case of exposure to sand dust environment, thus fundamentally removing faults and hidden troubles stemming from failure in weak signal conduction in sand dust environment.

Al Dhafra project will increase the proportion of clean energy in United Arab Emirates' total energy structure to exceed 13%; it will be conducive to promoting Abu Dhabi's energy transition and sustainable development; it will also become a milestone photovoltaic project among LAZZEN's overseas new energy projects. As an important practitioner in energy reform transition,      LAZZEN will further go deep in overseas market, work with partners to provide more premium products and services for sustainable development.
